BOOKSMART

I cannot express how moved and motivated I am after watching Olivia’s Wilde’s directing debut: Booksmart. Not only is it a captivating and hilarious comedy about young adult shenanigans, but Wilde’s reasoning behind deciding to direct shakes me to my core. YES OLIVIA. YES MY LADIES WHO WANT TO DIRECT. Do it. THIS IS THE ART WE GET.

Hearing Wilde’s story has been very healing for me. In the article below, she explains that most of her career has felt driven by her looks and other people’s perception of her. Her directing BOOKSMART gave her an artistic avenue to follow that had nothing to do with her looks. It also gave her the power to tell a story the way she wanted it told. How powerful.

Go see BOOKSMART. It’s the best movie I’ve seen so far this year!
